The 5th Annual Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) 2022: TANAW concludes with the victory of four qualifiers for the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), including the championship of Chiara Tan-Gatue, a former IBO medalist. The annual competition, which ran from date to date, aimed to select four student delegates for the IBO out of the 346 total participants while enhancing students’ interests, passions, and skills in the biological sciences.
Aiming to intensify science communication through journalism, the Ateneo Biological Organization (BOx) staged a three-part writing workshop via Zoom on February 18, 23, and March 2, 2022.
The Ateneo BOx raised PhP 32,816.40 in its recently concluded online concert Happy BOx Year 2022: A Year of Giving, which featured guest bands as well as various student performers. The new year’s fundraiser was held for the benefit of victims of last year’s Typhoon Odette.

For the second straight year, BOx launched the Biology Undergraduate Mentorship Program (BUMP) for first year BS Biology and BS Life Sciences students. Anchored towards providing academic, moral, and social support for the freshies, the mentorship program aims to embody the ideal BS Bio and BS LfSci graduate.
Ateneo BOx has partnered with Masungi Georeserve to raise awareness and support for forest rangers and the conservation of protected natural areas in our environment, during the earlier run of the BOx RecWeek 2021: Forest and Nature Reserve last September 6–18, 2021.
The BOx Family System is a program under the organization’s Department of Membership Affairs (DOMA). Members of BOx were grouped into “Barkadas” that would be their companions for the rest of the school year.
Through a raffle fundraiser, BOx was able to raise up to 7,500 pesos for the environmental education program in Danjugan Island in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The Department of Advocacy (DOA) showcased online one of the Ateneo Biological Organization’s advocacies, particularly animal and plant welfare through Wildlife Week on June 7-11. Having the goal of raising awareness for animal and plant welfare, the core team featured infographics, games, and a donation drive.
